Newzones is pleased to announce the “THE LINE”, a group show featuring William Perehudoff, Bradley Harms, and Michael Batty.

While the works by these artists are stylistically different, they all deal with the physical “line”. William Perehudoff (1918-2013), employs the line in his formalist abstract paintings through the use of vivid color. As William stated about his work: “My paintings carry no other message but the surprise, spontaneity and optimism of colour.”

Bradley Harms, works on the front lines of the new wave of Canadian Abstractionism. Digressing from using strictly color to evoke emotion, Harms trumps the manufactured aesthetic with meticulously delicate modulated lines that are hand applied to the canvas. Whereas Michael Batty, paints with intuitive colour combinations and free flowing compositions that represent the beauty generated by the accumulation of simplicity.

A sense of lineage is created through the exhibition, linking these artists through space and time by each of their distinct use of the “line”.
